Paggie Matlock | I have been a Village resident since 1973 when my parents made Oakwood their home. I graduated from Bedford High School and have supported many activities provided for our youth. I currently hold a Bachelor of Arts in Communication with specialization in Organizational Communication and Business Administration from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. I am also a graduate of Cleveland Federal Community Leadership Institute. As a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., (a sorority that emphasizes community involvement and support), I served in several capacities including Chairperson of the Oakwood Scholarship Committee, President of Bedford High School Parent-Teacher Student Association, Community Service Co-Chair, March of Dimes Volunteer, Cleveland/Akron Food Bank Volunteer and Buckle Up America Committee Member. In addition to dedications and hard work, I am vested. These accomplishments were founded upon my passion to give back to my community. I take great pleasure in living in Oakwood and am graciously honored to represent Ward 3 as your councilperson. Continue Reading → | |

Mary Davis | Message | Hello! My name is Mary Davis, and I am happy to be your Ward 4 Councilperson. I have lived in Ward 4 of Oakwood Village for almost my entire life, growing up on Alexander Road, where my mother still lives. I married my wonderful, who grew up on Macedonia Road, almost 44 years ago. (Time flies by too fast!) We have 5 adult children, 2 daughters, 2 sons-in-law and a son. And the best of all: 2 grandsons and 3 granddogs with another grandchild on the way! I am a retired Registered Nurse. I retired from the Bedford City Schools in 2017 after over 23 year as a multi-handicapped classroom paraprofessional. In the past, I was active in the Bedford City Schools on the PTA (including several times as board Secretary), and on various committees, including dress code and discipline. I also served as a trustee and a member of the contract negotiations committee for OAPSE. I have also been active in my church as Secretary of the Women's Guild, Eucharistic Minister, and now as a member of the Handbell Choir. I have served the Village of Oakwood since the 1990's. I started on the Recreation Commission and in the early 2000's, moved to the Planning Commission, which I served on until December of the last year. Over the time i have lived here, we have see many great changes to our Village, and I hope to be a part of more productive changes in the future. You are always welcome to attend Council meetings. They take place every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm at Village Hall. You can also leave me a message at (440) 232-9988 ext. 155 or email me a mdavis@oakwoodvillageoh.com. I though you for your trust in me, the Lord for this opportunity and my family and friends for their support: I sincerely hope that each of you remain safe as we navigate this pandemic.
