Be very careful with storm contractors. The Ohio Department of Insurance and NAIC both warn that after severe storms, fraudulent or aggressive contractors show up fast. File the claim before hiring a contractor, ask for identification, verify licensing and references, avoid big upfront cash demands, and do not let anyone pressure you to sign insurance proceeds or inflate the loss.
