Dear Residents:

Many of you are aware of the explosion that occurred yesterday around 2:00 p.m. at the I. Schumann & Company plant located on Alexander Road in Oakwood Village.  Currently an investigation is being conducted by various agencies including the ATF, EPA, FBI, FEMA and the State Fire Marshall who has taken over the scene.  It has been reported that at this time there is no suspected act of terrorism, and it is suggested that it most likely was an industrial accident.  Our condolences go out to the family of Mr. Steve Mullins who passed away and our prayers go out for the 13 others who were reported injured.  There have not been any reports of an immediate hazard, however we continue to remain cautious.  We also would like to commend Captain Brian DiRocco and Police Chief Mark Garratt. They successfully led our phenomenal fire and police personnel received critically needed assistance from the safety forces from over 10 of our neighboring communities.  The investigation has been taken over by the State and therefore we shall be seeking updates from them as the investigation is underway and is reaching its completion.  We will continue to provide you with updates as we receive them.

Respectfully.

Gary V Gottshalk, Mayor

Johnnie A. Warren, Council of Council and our entire Council Body
