Short Biography

Taunya Scruggs

• Taunya M. Scruggs has resided in Oakwood Village since 2012. She is a servant leader who enjoys working with people. Her passion for youth and the progress of her community drive her to continually forge forward.
• As a proud alumni of the Cleveland School of Arts, she continues to use her talents to empower others. Ms. Scruggs graduated from Columbia College with a degree in Sound Engineering and has a Master’s Degree in Educational Technology from Cleveland State University.
• With 21 years in education, starting as an elementary classroom teacher and transitioning to a high school administrator, she has worked in both Cleveland and Akron schools.
• She is a proud choir director and youth leader for Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, where she has served in various ministries for over 35 years.
• Her expertise in event planning and organization has awarded her the opportunity to work with master teams to put on yearly events for clients. She currently serves as an Executive Assistant & Marketing Coordinator for UBIZ Venture Capital.
• Ms. Scruggs has over 15 years of entrepreneurship experience with Prepaid Legal Services, where she serves as one of the directors in Northeast Ohio, specializing in small business, group, family, and commercial driver’s legal plans.
• Taunya M. Scruggs is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. This organization focuses on service, scholarship, sisterhood, and social action which is at the heart of her initiatives.
• She is currently serving on the board of the Meadows of Oakwood’s Homeowners Association where she has served for over 5 years.
• Most importantly, she is a proud mother, daughter, sister, aunt, godmother, and neighbor.
• Taunya M. Scruggs’ first elected term began on January 1, 2024
