Fire Chief James Schade is a thirty-three year resident of the Village of Oakwood. He has a history of 30 years with the Village Fire Department of which 4 has been and continues to be in the capacity of Chief.
The Village of Oakwood has a full service Fire Department which has a staff of four 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our Fire Department consists of one Chief, one Assistant Chief, one Captain, two Lieutenants and numerous Fire Fighters/Emt's and Fire Fighter Paramedics all of which are part-time. The Fire Department supplies services to Oakwood Village, as well as mutual aid with the surrounding communities.

In addition to fire suppression services, the Fire Department supplies the following services to the community:
- Paramedic Emergency Medical
- Fire Prevention
- Hazardous Materials Response
- Above and Underground Storage Tank Inspection
- Carbon Monoxide Alarm System checks (both non-emergency and emergency)
- CPR and Fire Safety classes
- Fire Extinguisher Classes
- Foster Care Home Fire Safety Inspections – State
- 911 Service - Fire and/or Squad
Home Fire Safety inspections and fire extinguisher training are available upon request.
